The listed apartment block in Dresden-Albertstadt, built in 1909 and renovated in 2008, relies on sustainable and efficient system technology. Heating is provided by a wood chip system, which is coupled with a 2,000-litre buffer storage tank to ensure an even heat supply. The heat is efficiently distributed throughout the building via a combination of underfloor and wall surface heating. There is also the option of integrating a solar thermal system to provide hot water and support the heating. Another sustainable element is the use of rainwater for toilet flushing, which reduces water consumption. This concept shows how modern system technology can be used efficiently in a historic building.
