Renewable fuels for heat generation are based on renewable or sustainably available energy sources and represent a climate-friendly alternative to fossil fuels. These include wood pellets, wood chips, biogas or synthetically produced green gases. These fuels are burnt in suitable heating systems or used to provide heat for heating and hot water.
A key advantage of renewable fuels is their comparatively good carbon footprint, as their use generally only releases as much carbon dioxide as was previously bound in the natural cycle. In addition, many of these energy sources can be produced regionally, which reduces dependence on energy imports. Systems that utilise renewable fuels are suitable for both new and existing buildings and can often be easily integrated into existing heating concepts. Modern systems are efficient, convenient and largely automated, enabling a reliable and sustainable heat supply.
